How much does a computer diagnostic cost?
The diagnostic fee is a flat $55, and it is credited toward your repair if you go ahead with the fix. $55 is also the minimum charge for any job, and labor over one hour is billed at $70 per hour. You always approve the price before work begins.
Can you fix my computer remotely?
Yes. Many problems, like slowness, pop-ups, email trouble, and software issues, can be fixed remotely anywhere in the US. I use a screen-sharing tool called RustDesk or AnyDesk. You see everything I do on your screen, and nothing happens until you have signed a consent form and invited me in.
Is letting someone access my computer remotely safe?
With the right process, yes. I only connect through RustDesk or AnyDesk after you sign a written consent form, you watch every action live on your own screen, and you can end the session at any moment by closing the app. I never connect without an appointment you booked.
Where do you offer in-person visits?
On-site visits are available in central Maine. If you live outside central Maine, I can still help remotely with most software problems, anywhere in the US.
Do I pay before or after the appointment?
Booking is pre-paid: the $55 diagnostic fee reserves your appointment. You can pay securely by card, Venmo, or Cash App. That keeps the schedule fair for everyone, and the fee is credited toward your repair.
What does a tune-up include?
A flat-rate tune-up ($75 to $125) covers startup cleanup, system and security updates, storage health checks, and removal of junk programs that slow the computer down. Most tune-ups finish the same day.
I am not good with computers. Will you be patient with me?
Yes, that is the whole point of KaitTech. Most of my clients would not call themselves tech-savvy. I explain things in plain English, write down the steps for you, and no question is too small.
Do you offer cybersecurity services?
No. I keep my services honest: I remove viruses and malware and help you set safer habits, but I do not sell cybersecurity services such as security audits or business network security.
Do you build custom PCs?
Yes. We pick parts together for your budget and needs, I assemble and test the machine with tidy cable management, and I set it up in your home. Labor runs $100 to $250 depending on the build.
What if my computer is beyond repair?
I will tell you honestly. If the diagnosis is that the machine is not worth fixing, I will say so, explain your options, and can help you choose a replacement and move your files to it.
